About The Wiki

This website is a so-called "wiki," which means that (in this case) registered members can easily edit any page on the site. Please take advantage of this ability to offer your input and improve the efforts of our Working Group. When you hit the "edit" button on a page, you will see the contents of the page in a text format with fairly intuitive marks to indicate how it should be laid out, more or less of the sort you may use in text-only emails anyway. For example, surrounding a word with double underscores makes it bold, like this: __bold__ for bold. Or putting asterisks in front of each of a series of lines turns them into a bulleted list. While you are editing, clicking on the "wiki help" button near the bottom will pop up a brief summary of the formatting you can do in this way. When you're done editing, click on "Preview" to make sure everything looks OK, and then "Save" to publish your changes to the website. It's that easy — and don't worry about making changes, all previous versions are saved and we can always go back if we want. It's also helpful if you put a brief comment on what you changed in the "Edit Summary" line before you save, that way anyone can review the changes more easily. (For example, look at the "History" of this page.)

When you see a word with an underlined question mark following it, that indicates a reference to a page that does not yet exist. Please feel free to click on the question mark and start the needed page off — you'll begin in the editor with a blank page and you can begin to sketch out what that page should contain.

You can also add comments to any page — feel free to use that facility as well. You should see an "add comment" button at the bottom of the page. I've put one comment on this page so you can see what they look like. (You need to click on the button that says the number of comments in order to see them.)

Specifically, this site uses the "TikiWiki" wiki engine, for which you can find a great deal of more detailed information on line, such as http://doc.tikiwiki.org and http://twbasics.keycontent.org, for starters.

Note that as "site administrator," I can modify just about any overall aspect of how the site operates — what functions appear on the right-hand column, what menus there are, etc. So if you have any suggestions for the site, I am all ears — please just leave them as comments on this page (hit "add comment" below). Thanks!
